Section 1: Discussion of Storytelling through Design 

A. Sharing ideas visually (required)

Create a model/diorama, drawings, or mood-board collage that shows the world of the play and the characters who inhabit the world. Select ONE scene from EITHER:

You may use any combination of the methods suggested above to share your ideas visually.

B. Photographs (required)

Upload 1-4 photographs of your model/diorama, drawings, or mood-board collage.

C. Video 1:  (required)

Present your design through a 2-3 minute recorded presentation. Be sure to include the following:

Section 2: Providing Directions

A. Video 2: (required)

Create and upload a two-minute video in which you describe step-by-step how you assembled/completed something.

Submitting Photographs and Videos:

ALL work above can be submitted through an online system (link will be provided). If you are having difficulty submitting your work online, contact Mr. Touchette ([email protected]) for assistance to discuss alternative methods to submit. In your email make the subject “Cab Assessment 2022” and please include the full name of the student. 

All items above must be received by 3 pm (EST) at least 3 calendar days prior to your in-person assessment date.

In-Person On-Demand Tasks/Discussion (required):

You will be invited for an in-person opportunity at Cab Calloway if you submitted all required materials above. 

During your time you may be asked questions for further explanation about Section 1 above. 

You will also be asked to follow directions on a specific task in the theater that may relate to either sound or lights (no preparation or previous knowledge is necessary). You will be asked for your preference of doing sound or lights for the On-Demand Task. After being taught how to complete a simple task in either area, your score will be based on how well you follow the directions on your own.
