Cab Calloway School of the Arts has been selected as an official Jefferson Awards Leadership School. We are honored to be one of the 25 leadership high schools from the State of Delaware.
In 1972, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Senator Robert Taft Jr., and Sam Beard started the Jefferson Awards to create a Nobel Prize for public service in America. The mission of the Jefferson Awards is to honor Americans who have performed outstanding public service and inspire others to follow their example.
Over the past thirty-four years many extraordinary Americans have received the annual national awards, but the most outstanding winners are the thousands of local “Unsung Heroes “ – ordinary people, doing extraordinary things, who are honored for their contributions.
The News Journal and WBOC-TV are thrilled to be able to recognize local students as part of their Jefferson Awards media campaign.
The 25 Jefferson Awards Service Leadership Schools are serving as role models for other schools around the state – and eventually the country- to emulate. Each school’s faculty leadership and student service stars are helping pass the tradition of voluntary service to future generations, while promoting a culture of volunteerism, youth ethics and leadership.
To learn more about the program, how you can get involved or how to nominate a worthy student, please contact school counselor, Kimberly Rigby or senior, Timothy McBride, junior, Ashley McNeill, or sophomore, Nicole Walsh or the Student Leaders so they can give you all the key information.
