The Red Clay High School Orchestra concert will take place tonight in Cab’s auditorium at 7 PM (Tuesday, Jan. 31st). It is free and will last about 40 minutes. The orchestra is made up of 50 students from Cab (13 students from Cab high and middle), Charter, and a few advanced middle school students and it will be a great concert.
Next Thursday, February 9th, the Cab Calloway middle and high school string students will play their 1st strings concert of the year in Cab’s auditorium at 7 PM (under 1 hour for the concert length), including the majors and minors students and the Cab Honor’s Orchestra and high school strings. February 3-March 2

Wrapped in Pride: Ghanaian Kente and African American Identity explores kente-weaving traditions. The exhibition explains the fabric’s journey across an ocean and the symbolic transformation that occurred when kente was embraced around the world. The exhibition also examines the cloth’s prevalence during the months of Christmas, Kwanzaa, Martin Luther King Day, and African American History Month, each an occasion for African American communities to consider the power, strength, and faith represented by vibrant, symbolic kente. The exhibition opens February 3, 2012 and will close on March 9, 2012. Visitors must first register at the school office before entering the gallery.
Wrapped in Pride is made possible by funding from NEH on the Road, The Cab Calloway School Fund, and Cab Calloway School of the Arts.
